At Screetons, we have regularly been holding auctions of antiques, collectables, household effects and gardens equipment etc, both on and off site for over 40 years.
We presently hold our auctions on Saturdays at Laxton, a pretty unspoilt rural village, which lies three miles south of Howden and the M62 access Junction 37.

Our valuers are able to appraise your goods and chattels at our Howden office or alternatively visit your goods on site. We generally cover an area of up to a sixty-mile radius of Howden but are willing to visit further a field by arrangement.
House Clearance, Removals & Storage
Whether you are an individual acting for a relative or have been appointed as an executor of an estate, Screetons Auctioneers will give you a prompt, professional and sensitive service, keeping you informed throughout all steps of the process.
Screetons Auctioneers carry out full and part house clearances. Our valuer will visit the property and advise on items suitable for sale, prepare an inventory and give advice generally. Our porters will then carefully pack, box and remove the goods to either the sale room or our modern heated storage facilities. We can also advise and arrange for removal and disposal of items not suitable for auction.
All lots are to be received by 11am on the Friday prior to the auction. Any items arriving after 11am will not be accepted.
The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any item considered to be unfit for sale by public auction.
The standard commission rate is 17.5%. Subject to a minimum of £1 per lot. All commission rates are subject to the addition of VAT at the prevailing rate. Any additional costs incurred in connection with removal, storage etc will be charged separately.
All goods are sold subject to a Buyers Premium of 10% (+VAT).
All buyers attending the sale will be required to register at the Pay Office prior to the commencement of the auction. Proof of identify must be produced to obtain a buyers number. Accepted forms of identification are; driving licence, passport or identity card. A credit card is not an acceptable proof of identity. Purchasers who do not have the correct form of identification will be required to leave a deposit of £50 when obtaining their buyers number.
Goods must be paid for at the Pay Office before collection. All goods must be removed from the saleroom on the day of sale.
Payment is strictly cash only unless an agreement has been made with the auctioneers prior to commencement of the auction.
